Channeling Our Inner Carrie Bradshaw: Shoes of the Season

The saying goes: “Invest in your shoes and your sheets because if you’re not in one, you’re in the other.” For all of you Carrie Bradshaw fans and avid shoe lovers, we are here to tell you what shoes you need to invest in this season. Shoes are the soles of our ensemble (quite literally and figuratively); therefore, it is best to find pairs that you feel make you feel confident and bold. The right pair of shoes can give your outfit  that special catch, making it go from simple to effective. Although Carrie raided stores like Monolo Blahnik and Prada, we are here to show you how to shop the college way. Here are some ideas we’ve come up with to help you strut the streets of East Lansing like a runway this season.

The Sock Booties

Everything about this bootie screams sexy and sleek. Whether it be a block heel or stilettos, this shoe style forms a second skin of color and fabric that elongates the leg. Particularly this season, velvet is making it to number one in our hearts and in our closests. What better way to show off your style than combining these two trends? Style these shoes with some skinny jeans, like the picture above, or an over-the-knee pencil skirt for a night-out attire.

The OTK Boots

If you don’t have a pair of these in your closest, we highly advise you to get a pair ASAP! Making its way back into the top five shoes to have year after year, we can easily see why. These shoes are the best and easiest way to look chic without even trying. Although we would do anything to have the Stuart Weitzman OTK Boots in our closest, they aren’t particularly in our price-point. You can still find some that are completely affordable for college students. Try these affordable ones on for size! Remember, it’s not the price that makes the boot, it’s you!

Red is the New Black

Red is the color you need to know this season. From top to bottom, this color is bold and brilliant. Here we styled a basic LBD with an oversized jean jacket and scarf with statement red heels. Along with this, we are loving the matching look. Style a vibrant sweater with light wash or black skinny jeans and matching red shoes for an edgy and daring look. Don’t be afraid to break the boundaries. Style is what you make of it—let it be fun and unique!

The White Sneakers

Athleisure is here to stay, and as college students, we cannot complain. To complete the look, sneakers are a must. Brands like Nike, Adidas and Vans all offer a cool and classic collection. We are loving Adidas at the moment, as powerful and iconic women such as Karlie Kloss, Carmen Jorda and Caroline Wozniacki represent for the Adidas x Stella McCartney collaboration. For all you fashionistas out there, pairing these sneakers with a pair of joggers and a slouchy sweater is the perfect ensemble for running around campus all day.
