Fall into Fashion
There's something beautifully bittersweet about the shift from summer’s heat to fall’s chill. Flowy, thin, breathable fabrics to cozy layers . If you’re a warm-weather lover like me, the first cool breeze usually brings a bit of a depressing mood. For years, fall used to upset me because I would always hate my outfits. But over time, I’ve learned to see it differently. Now, I think of it as a season of opportunity — a chance to get creative, to layer, to mix vibes.
For me summer fashion is all about brightness — light fabrics, bold colors, and effortless chic. It’s about the glow on your skin, the late-night dinners, and the feeling of air brushing through your hair. Fall, on the other hand, is almost like a preview to winter. Days usually start really chilly then it slowly warms up that by the end of the day you are probably wondering why you choose to wear a jacket this thick. It can be hard to know what to wear. But that’s what I’ve grown to love — the challenge of balancing cozy and cool, warmth and breathability, comfort and confidence.
My personal go-to fall outfit is a cute cardigan layered over a tank top (because I’m still not quite ready to let go of summer vibes) paired with boyfriend-style jeans. It’s comfy, cute, and effortless, perfect for literally any occasion. If the day is a bit chillier, I’ll usually swap the tank for a turtleneck or a long-sleeve top. When it’s that perfect kind of cold — not freezing but still chilly — I adore wearing my favorite hoodie with shorts. There’s something about that mix that just screams fall errands, pumpkin spice, and playlists kind of day.
When transitioning from summer to fall, I love embracing the natural glow we all still have from soaking up vitamin D. Why cover it up? This is the perfect time to play with silhouettes and textures — think maxi skirts with simple tops, layered under cardigans, denim jackets, or even a leather jacket. A mini skirt with an oversized blazer and sporty shoes can give that “tennis club” vibe — casual yet put-together. Fall is the best season to have outfits that can work for a business meeting and a casual date.
Neutrals and soft pastels are my go to colors in fall. They’re easy to pair, and they match the mood of fading sunlight, and they blend beautifully with fall tones like beige, cream, or soft brown (my personal favorite).
Of course, no outfit is complete without accessories. Hoop earrings are my go-to for fall, I can’t explain why, but they have always given me fall vibes. I also love adding braids to my hair, another accessory that just gives me vibes. Rings, layered necklaces, and scarves tied around the neck (or even as a bandana) are my favorite ways to elevate a simple outfit.
Fall is definitely not summer, but I think it is just beautiful and brings new opportunities for great looking outfits (I might be a little biased since my birthday is in fall but…). It’s the season for coziness and warmth.
